Director of Solar Energy Development

Position Overview:

Director of Solar Energy Development will understand the fundamental attractiveness of the solar business, identify industry partners necessary to pursue the opportunity (photo-voltaic panel suppliers, installers, third party financing alternatives, etc.), determine the specific states with the most favorable economics, develop a high-priority target list of sales opportunities, and create and execute a strategy to pursue the solar installation business profitably. 

Director Solar Energy Development will be responsible for managing all aspects of the business including strategic planning, business development and site prospecting, deal structure and negotiation, project management, budgeting, and value realization.

Ideal candidate will have experience building and growing a profitable business opportunity from infancy to larger-scale success. Experience in energy development, specifically renewable energy, is strongly preferred. Must have a strong desire to succeed/win, and be a self-starter with passion to create value in renewable/alternative energy.

Work environment is fast-paced, entrepreneurial, aggressive, and located in Boston, Massachusetts. Opportunity for competitive compensation based on results achieved.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of work experience, 3+ years in renewable/alternative energy preferred.
  • Desire to develop and grow new business initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, management, environmental science or a related field; master's degree a plus.
  • Working knowledge of renewable/solar energy including: cost trends, rebates, incentives, current technologies, etc.
  • Well-developed project management skills.
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities are a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and proven ability to learn new software programs.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to work well in an entrepreneurial environment with little supervision.
  • Team Player with positive attitude
