Posted 2010-Feb-21 (Job ID: 2792)
Position Overview:
Drive development of epitaxial deposition process. Provide support for all aspects of production in the Epitaxy area. The position requires a solid understanding of the principles involved in semiconductor wafer processing and an excellent working level knowledge of the principles governing epitaxial deposition and the equipment used in Epitaxial growth as well as the characterization equipment used to monitor this process.
This position is responsible for maintaining the quality of the existing Epi product, and conducting investigations into low yield and Epi process-related problems and new process development. The position requires the initiation and implementation of process and product changes that support yield improvement, quality improvement, new process introductions and cost reductions.
Responsibilities:
Wi ll work in conjunction with the Product Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and Quality management to address these specific areas:
- Drive product and process improvement engineering studies by evaluating process control wafers and process characterizations as needed. Assessment and disposition of Maverick product in the area, and performance of root cause analysis of low yield Epi product/Epi process problems.
- Identify and evaluate new process technologies to increase the efficiency and organization of the Epi area.
- Self driven design of experiments for characterization and improvement of epitaxial deposition processes.
- Work with other Process Engineers and staff to support Epi production operation on a daily basis. This involves maintaining shop instructions, trouble-shooting production equipment, reporting of key area performance indices, and training key operators.
- Responsible for clear communication of priorities, project status and results/reports to the staff.
- Evaluations of processes and material changes that will reduce cost and improve yield/throughput. Work with Maintenance to improve equipment up-time. Work with Operations to reduce cycle time
- Provide support for all Epi-related Documentation:
- Shop instructions and OCAPs (revisions if necessary)
- Process travelers - (for New Products).
- Control Plans, FMEA's
- Quality Improvement
Qualifications:
- Education: Masters degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Physics.
- Excellent understanding of physics of silicon epitaxy process.
- Excellent understanding of capabilities of epitaxial process equipment and its enhancement.
- Candidate should possess good communication skills and be aggressive in driving change.
- Minimum of 5 years experience as an Epi Process Engineer and first hand experience with wafer
- processing equipment such as Gemini and EpiPro-5000 Reactors, FTIR, Four Point Probe, SRP, and Hg probe.
- Ability to work well with other engineers and understand new processes and device concepts.
- Strong data analysis and written communications skills.
- Good analytical and deductive skills.
- Team player.
