Key Account Manager

Position Overview:
We currently have an opportunity for a Key Account Manager to support strategic national affiliated accounts. In this position, you will be responsible for developing significant working relationships with multiple management units such as general managers, CEO's, Crops managers, Seed and Chemical Managers as well as Regional and Key location Managers. A Bachelors Degree in agronomy, agriculture, business, biology or related field is required for this position.
Working in our dynamic organization that spans 61 countries, you'll collaborate with internal teams to maximize services, information and sales to preferred growers desiring extensive technical, agronomic expertise. We're committed to providing the best in agricultural technology, and you'll ensure our continued success by building and maintaining relationships with retailers, seed dealers and larger farmers.
Responsibilities:
- This position will work as part of the Account Management team to facilitate and communicate plan implementation while serving as the primary contact for broad issues with Key Account Executive Level Management Members.
- Additional responsibilities may include generating demand for Monsanto traits and seed brands with key Corporate Farms and Farm Management Firms.
- The individual is responsible for strategy development, relationship building, and business plan development with Corporate Farms and Professional Farm Management Firms in the area.
- Additional responsibilities include as appropriate, supply and order management, and training for Corporate Farms and Farm Management Firms.
- The position will serve as one point of contact for large corporate farms that may operate across team and region lines, so strong communication with teams and managers across regions is essential.
Qualifications:
- BS or MS in agronomy, agriculture, business, biology or a related field is required or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional sales/account management experience.
- Strong selling skills along with experience in agri-business or a related area.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation skills are desired and the candidate must understand and be able to effectively communicate the Monsanto agricultural portfolio and systems to customers in order to create demand.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the technical aspects of the business and have the ability to work and cooperate in teams.
- Strong time and territory management abilities required.
- Experience effectively demonstrating self motivation, initiative, assertiveness, and results orientation.
- Ability to successfully work in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Previous experience successfully working in teams.
- Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook).
- Willingness to travel and live/work in a rural environment.
- Ability to pass a background check, substance abuse test, and driving record background check (i.e. moving violations, accidents, license suspension, etc.).
- If necessary, the ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds (a bag of seed).
- Trait, Seed, and Chemistry knowledge and experience in general agronomics, pest management, and plant physiology would be beneficial.
- Certified Crop Advisor certification is desired.
