Position Overview:

The Internal Communications Manager is a new role primarily responsible for development, implementation and measurement of internal communications programs. These programs will be designed to drive employee engagement through understanding of company business objectives, special business initiatives and company's mission, vision and values.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to build and maintain close and collaborative relationships with internal communicators from across the organization to ensure alignment and integration of key messages. The role will also require an ability to anticipate and understand the reaction of employees to strategic communications ensuring that their needs are met and that leadership is equipped to address employee questions and concerns. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in business literacy development, executive communications through internal media channels including on-line and in-person vehicles and venues.

The successful candidate will have proven experience operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and have proven relationship building skills with stakeholders from all levels within an organization. Experience with change management, verbal, visual and kinesthetic modes of communication, and targeted and tiered messaging is strongly preferred. This position will report to the corporate Sr. Marketing & Communications Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, plan and execute internal communications
  • Determine and drive the strategic value of internal communications vehicles and optimize their usage to ensure effective and consistent messages throughout the company
  • Develop and implement appropriate metrics to evaluate the success of the impact of internal communications activities
  • Develop internal communications channels beyond what currently exists
  • Create, manage and execute strategic internal communications projects on behalf of the company
  • Support key corporate internal communications vehicles and programs including PECI All Hands Meeting, Strategic Initiative Announcements, Change Management Announcements, etc.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders including the PECI executive team  to develop various communications, presentations and messaging with a primary focus on business objectives, strategic initiatives and company events
  • Successfully project manage internal communications
  • Copywriting, copy-editing and content re-purposing for internal communications
  • Serve as the employee portal editor to write and publish company news, highlights and information
  • Plan, develop, and maintain communication plan and calendar
  • Improve message coordination, clarity, consistency, and context

Qualifications:

  • Proven successful track record as an Internal Communications professional with a minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing or related degree with expertise in communications practices strongly preferred
  • Experience working with executive and senior leadership teams with demonstrated leadership qualities
  • Able to understand, simplify and articulate complex ideas, concepts and structures and plan and execute communications that resonate with and engage employees
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to think and communicate creatively and strategically  
  • Collaborative style with exceptional relationship development and management skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask with strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability prioritize tasks in a dynamic and fast moving environment
  • Work well under pressure and ability to meet key deadlines
  • Team oriented with an ability to collaborate with and influence others to accomplish goals
  • Ability to support and implement communications processes, with thorough understanding of collateral/product design for all forms of internal communications media - digital, print and virtual media
  • Knowledge/experience in measuring the effectiveness of communications programs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ancillary tools such as Visio or mind mapping software, expert at PowerPoint; including a strong understanding of optimal strategies and tactics through PowerPoint applications
  • Experience in supporting large communications events and conferences
