Water Resources Project Manager

Position Overview:
It is crucial that the candidate be a team player, but also comfortable working independently and efficiently on projects specifically tasked to this position. The Water Resources Project Manager must be able to think critically and find ways of applying available resources to accomplish goals.
It is important to focus on the "big picture" and how it can affect and promote environmental, economic, and social well-being for the communities of Los Angeles. NET works to create and use replicable models for community-based partnerships that solve complex environmental problems.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the Water Resources Project Manager/Engineer will include preparation of project scopes, budgets, and timelines; management of NET sub-contractors, including engineers, and other design and construction professionals; oversight and tracking of project budgets and related project administration; coordination of community involvement in concert with other NET staff and partners; communication with a diverse mix of public, private and non-profit partners; and assistance to clients with bidding, construction management, and other tasks as required.
The Water Resources Project Manager will be expected to immediately assume the responsibility for the management of the $3.1 Million Garvanza Park Stormwater Management Project, which includes a teaming arrangement with the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works. Project construction is anticipated shortly.
Qualifications:
- Must share values and vision of the organization;
- Candidate must have at least 3 years of comparable project management experience and excellent references;
- Candidate must have advanced training and/or prior work experience in construction management, engineering site design, environmental design, ecology and/or related fields;
- Candidate must be comfortable with AutoCad design and applications;
- It is preferred that the candidate have experience or familiarity with the municipal procurement processes and Los Angeles permitting requirements;
- Experience working with/for municipal or state government is a plus;
- Familiarity with Low-Impact Development and ‘Green Streets' is important;
- Familiarity with LEED standards or the Sustainable Sites Initiative is a plus;
- Demonstrated outstanding organizational skills along with strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills;
- Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Ability to balance competing priorities and deadlines and to handle multiple tasks;
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues;
- Candidate must be a self-starter and work well independently, as well as accept supervision;
- Candidate must be reliable and flexible;
- A BS CE, PE or EIT preferred, and
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
