Web Administrator / Developer

Position Overview:
Responsible for the daily operation of the Earthjustice web site, including content management and technical function. The Web Administrator / Developer works with other staff to develop and improve the web site, email messaging, and related online communications.
Responsibilities:
1. Web site content management:
- Responsible for day-to-day function & management of our web site;
- Work with staff throughout the organization to develop and update site content;
- Identify changes that could improve placement in search engines, increase ease of use, and increase traffic to the site;
2. Web site technical management:
- Manage Drupal CMS, ensuring reliability and performance;
- Update and adjust the Drupal CMS platform, architecture, and related modules in order to support the online needs of the organization;
- Troubleshoot technical problems and work with service providers as necessary to ensure web site functionality;
- Track new web technologies and look for opportunities to implement these technologies into existing or new web site entities;
3. Email messaging and CRM tools:
- Configure and manage deployment of email messages using Convio CRM;
- Work with Earthjustice and Convio staff to create and improve effective forms and messages for fundraising and advocacy purposes;
4. Web site development:
- Develop and update visually appealing and engaging web pages using relevant online coding languages, including HTML, JavaScript, and CSS;
- Create coded web pages that match provided graphic designs;
- Design well structured and effective web pages from scratch using content provided;
5. Management & Coordination:
- Manage relations with key vendors and oversee the use of tools they provide including: web hosting services, domain names, CRM, CMS, online storefront, etc.
Qualifications:
Skills:
- Proven Drupal management skills;
- Familiarity with online messaging and CRMs (Convio a major plus);
- Outstanding knowledge of hand-coding HTML, CSS and Javascript;
- Knowledge of HTML email standards and production a major plus;
- Web design and layout skills required, graphic design skills a plus;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Detail oriented with ability to juggle multiple priorities;
- A willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and to work in collaboration with other Earthjustice staff members;
Experience:
- Proven success in developing effective web pages;
- History of web site and CMS management (both content and platform);
- 1+ years hands-on Drupal experience;
- Experience applying technology to law firms and/or nonprofit organizations;
- Knowledge of environmental issues preferred;
Education:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, communications, or environmental studies
