Solar Photovoltaic Research Engineer

Position Overview:
The Solar Photovoltaic Research Engineer will focus on developing novel fabrication processes for EPIR's multijunction CdTe on silicon solar cell. The primary responsibility of this person will be to design and implement experiments that further EPIR's photovoltaic technology.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement solar photovoltaic device improvement experiments.
- Perform device modeling using characterization data to determine efficiency limitations and areas for improvement.
- Performs hands-on device fabrication work using techniques such as diffusion, vacuum deposition, screen printing, and photolithography.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience designing and fabricating high efficiency silicon solar cells in a laboratory or manufacturing development environment.
- In depth understanding of solar photovoltaic device physics and materials.
- Use of modeling software such as PC1D to develop and implement experiments to improve solar photovoltaic performance.
- Hands-on experience using solar photovoltaic fabrication processes such as vacuum deposition, photolithography, high temperature diffusion/oxidation, etc.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting semiconductor device fabrication equipment a big plus.
- Experience characterizing solar cells using standard characterization techniques such as four-point probe, light/dark I-V, QE, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team while also able to work independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to follow specific directions on experiments, processes.
Education/Experience:
- 3+ years in solar photovoltaic device research or development position
- M.S. in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering or other related field
- PhD in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering or other related field a plus
