Design Services Engineer is responsible for solar panel rooftop designs for integrators and end users.  Also responsible for choosing, developing and providing technical support to a certified infrastructure of 3rd party engineering partner companies that will provide structural engineering and permitting support for Solyndra Products.  Design services will be a professional service that will generate external revenue for the company.

Responsibilities:

• Provide design/engineering of Photovoltaic projects, engineering calculations, production of detailed construction documents, field assessments, feasibility reports, installation oversight, and systems commissioning. Interface with clients, architects, utility representatives and code officials, as well as equipment suppliers and installation contractors.
• Project involvement will include the design and review of electrical system design with a focus on solar design work, String interconnect, Array home run and AC interconnection, to include medium voltage distribution.
• Work directly with project designers, construction project managers and clients to create solutions for electrical and structural construction plans. Being a part to the overall system design while assisting with the coordination and approval stage of the engineering review process as directed by the Authority having jurisdiction. 
• Provide engineering coordination and help gain approval from the local utility on our points of interconnection. Provide feasibility and electrical solutions that will assist in providing value engineering solutions to allow for ease of installation, cost effective, code compliant, high performing and safe - reliable solutions.
• Plan, design, review, and provide electrical calculations, as well as wet stamp approval for all aspects of project electrical system design and methods of electrical construction. 
• Conduct site visits to provide feasibility and determine optimal electrical system design, interacting with construction teams to meet the project’s design intent and performance specifications as well as local codes and standards. 
• Contribute to new product development and integration with a focus on making installation more efficient and streamlined. 
• Work with the team to produce AutoCAD based designs and drawings for a variety of PV solar projects.

Job Requirements :

• BSEE, EET or equivalent
• Licensed Professional Engineer in California 
• Proficiency with AutoCAD skills and ability to generating detailed construction drawings 
• Hands-on construction experience preferred
• Professional oral and written communications skills 
• Experience with utility and or medium voltage distribution and interconnection 
• NABCEP certified a plus
• Strong ability to multitask and meet deadlines
