Job Description :

Priority Duties:

• Assign and schedule carriers to transport shipments. Potential shipments types are: 1.) import and export via air and ocean. 2.) Inbound and outbound domestic truck, train, LTL and air.
• Provide proactive customer service support to both internal and external customers.
• Provide logistics support to professional sales and purchasing staffs.
• Monitor scheduled progress of shipments by direct inquiries to carriers or through web access of carrier tracking data.

General Duties:

• Provide shipping help as needed to various Solyndra departments.
• Audit, reconcile and approve freight bills for payment.
• Maintain carrier files with all current insurance schedules, permit documentation, contract and rate agreements
• Keep files per US customs compliance regulations of all required documents for individual import and export shipments.
• Provide third-party business partners with shipping documentation for duty drawback program.
• Assure all US Customs and Homeland Security paperwork and procedure guidelines are followed for each import and export shipment.
• Maintain compliance with various US Customs compliance programs. Keep management informed of regulation changes and any deficiencies with the Solyndra compliance procedures.
• Collect freight price quotations as requested for special shipments.
• Maintain relationships with small package carriers and local courier services. Assure rate and transit time schedules are kept current.
• Provide timely update information regarding shipment status to various Solyndra staff as requested.
• Coordinate work schedules for contracted specialized trucks and rigging contractors to accommodate the loading and unloading of oversized capital equipment.
• Provide to the appropriate domestic or foreign warehouse the shipping instructions for outbound Solyndra inventory.
• Regularly provide shipping activity summaries in spreadsheet format.
• Support Solyndra shipping/receiving staff with periodic training updates for outbound packaging and labeling.
• Support trade show and customer demo activity by supplying specialized packaging when needed and coordinating delivery and pick-up times.
• Periodically meet with third-party service suppliers.
• Attend and/or initiate periodic meetings with various Solyndra departments.
• Collaborate with other departments to modify shipping practices as needed to accommodate changes in the Solyndra business.

 
Job Requirements :

• 5+ years experience in transportation and compliance
• International shipping experience is a plus
• Solid working knowledge of ocean, air, train and truck transportation
• Skilled working with spreadsheets
• Experience supporting sales and purchasing functions
